Instructor Code of Conduct & Teaching Values
At Elemento Dance Academy, we believe that dance is not only an art form, but also a shared human experience rooted in trust, expression, and connection. Our instructors are committed to creating and maintaining a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for every student. The following policies reflect our studio’s core values and expectations for teaching conduct.
1. Consent & Physical Boundaries
- Directors and instructors will make physical contact for demonstration and/or correction of body alignment, technique, etc.
- Elemento Dance teams, classes, and socials will include physical contact with dance partners.
- Students have the right to opt out of any movement, exercise, or partner work without explanation.
- Instructors will proactively check in before offering any hands-on adjustments or feedback.
- Open communication regarding comfort and boundaries is always encouraged.
2. Professional Conduct
- Instructors maintain appropriate professional boundaries with all students at all times.
- Transparency is expected in all professional communications and interactions.
- Harassment, discrimination, assault or any form of inappropriate behavior is strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
3. Creating a Safe and Inclusive Environment
- All students—regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, race, background, or ability level—are welcome and valued.
- Instructors are committed to identifying and dismantling harmful or inequitable dynamics in partnered and group dance settings.
- Respect, empathy, and accountability are modeled consistently in both instruction and behavior.
4. Feedback & Communication
- Student and peer feedback is welcomed and viewed as a key component of growth and improvement.
- Concerns may be raised directly or anonymously through email, the anonymous feedback form (link at the bottom), or directly to Javier or Kiki.
- All feedback is treated with care and confidentiality, and responses will be handled respectfully and appropriately.
5. Commitment to Lifelong Learning
- Instructors are expected to continually educate themselves on topics such as:
- Consent culture
- Power dynamics in dance spaces
- Inclusive and trauma-informed teaching practices
- Teaching at Elemento Dance Academy is a privilege. All instructors are held to a high standard of responsibility, integrity, and ongoing self-reflection.

Student Code of Conduct
Building a Respectful, Inclusive, and Safe Dance Community
At Elemento Dance Academy, every dancer contributes to the culture and energy of our space. We ask all students to uphold the values of respect, consent, inclusivity, and professionalism while participating in classes, rehearsals, performances, and studio events.
This Code of Conduct outlines the expectations for all students to help ensure a positive and supportive environment for everyone.
💬 1. Respect & Consent
- Directors and instructors will make physical contact for demonstration and/or correction of body alignment, technique, etc.

- Arrive on time, come prepared, and stay engaged during class.
- Treat the space, equipment, and people with care—help keep our studio clean and safe.
- Avoid gossip, disruptive behavior, or actions that make others feel excluded or uncomfortable.
- Bullying, harassment, assault, or discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated.

- Celebrate diversity—our studio welcomes dancers of all backgrounds, identities, and experience levels.
- Support a culture where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.
- Step back to make space for others, and step up to speak out if you witness harmful behavior.
- We believe dance is for everyone—be part of making that true.

- We encourage open, respectful communication between instructors and peers.
- If you have concerns, please share with the Elemento staff immediately—we take all feedback seriously.
- You may speak directly with a staff member or submit feedback anonymously via GoogleForm (https://forms.gle/pBjQvpGmewjbv5Na8) or email (elementodanceacademy@gmail.com).
📚 5. Commitment to Growth
- Accept feedback with a growth mindset and offer it constructively when asked.
- We are committed to fostering a positive learning environment for our students. While we offer support and encouragement, we also believe in the value of honest feedback and disciplined expectations to promote responsibility and growth.
